Independence Day

E’s first 4th of July.  It was a rainy day.  Cool and rainy.  Not a typical July 4th.  But, we celebrated anyway, taking her to visit with my folks before we went to a party at our friend’s house.

Our friend, Dave, hosts a party each year to watch the fireworks that his neighbors set off.  These fireworks rival local small towns’ displays.  They never disappoint.  And, what a treat to see them going off practically above your head!

The rain finally dissipated, so we were able to go out and enjoy the evening air.  And, we had two different neighbors trying to outdo each other this year, so the fireworks were twice as nice!

E was adorable as she was watching them – she’d look at the exploding colors, then twist around to look at me – as if to say, “um, should I be concerned here?”.  Very cute.  She seemed to enjoy the show, and didn’t appear frightened by the loud noises.  Must be because our house is so loud all the time.
